Welcome to the e-newsletter of the Coeur d'Alene Visitors Bureau (CVB). We are sending this to you to keep you updated on the variety of activities and vacation opportunities in this beautiful lakefront community! What follows is a summary of the many exciting events taking place in Coeur d'Alene this month.

Wild Waters Waterpark
Grand Opening in 2008...The Sunnyside Lazy River
Wild Waters Waterpark is marking it's 26th Anniversary this summer in a big way, with the grand opening of its new Sunnyside Lazy River. The Sunnyside Lazy River will be the region's #1 Family Attraction with 1400 ft. of float, one of the longest anywhere that features a dumping bucket, 40 ft. waterfall or you can take a swing on Wild Willy's Rope Ride.
The Riverhouse, a float-up bar on the Sunnyside Lazy River will offer the most  delicious frozen (non-alcoholic/alcoholic) drinks around, as well as serve premium beer and wine.
Wild Waters Waterpark is located in the heart of Coeur d'Alene at I-90 and US-95. Wild Waters Waterpark features 14 of the fastest slides anywhere, from the high speed thrill rides of the Black Hole, Twister, Drop-Off, Skidder and Double Trouble to the more milder rides for the little ones at the Dolphin Island Slides, a Big Kahuna Waterfall, the River Run Tube ride, the Water-Spray area, Kiddie Paddle Boat Lagoons, Wild Willy's Sandbox and the Big Soak Hot Tubs.
The Surfside Cafe offers full concessions, favorites include; hamburgers, chicken strips, handmade pizzas, Pepsi products, a Smoothie Bar and Thelma's Lemonade. Our gift shop features Wild Waters & Wild Willy's souvenir and memorabilia as well as summer clothing. The covered Pavilion is a great place to get out of the sun and meet Wild Willy. Remember: Parking, tub rental, and water war balloons are always free with your admission to Wild Waters Waterpark.

And the WINNER Is...
Coeur d'Alene has been voted again as one of the best! The residents here aren't the only people that have recognized Coeur d'Alene as being a beautiful place to visit and live but people from all over the country have too!
Lake Coeur d'Alene was voted by the Inlander Northwest as THE BEST LAKE FOR WATERSKIING and THE BEST PLACE TO WATCH A SUNSET. This edition  was the 15th Annual Reader's Poll for 2008.
The lake isn't the only great activity in the area, our attractions in Coeur d'Alene were voted as the BEST too!

May Events Calendar

Throughout the Month of May - Into the Woods presented by Lake City Playhouse
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods blends the well-known tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstock and Little Red Ridinghood with an original story of a childless baker and his wife, who despertely want children, but must remove the curse standing in their way. Share the experiences of these familiar characters, as they learn to 'Be Careful What You Wish For' because you might just get it when you go "Into the Woods."
Into the Woods will be performed throughout the month of May, Thursday through Sunday. Performances Thursday through Saturday are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m.
May 2nd - 3rd - The Coeur d'Alene Film Festival
Last years inaugural event was a huge success! The festival will offer independent films in six categories: Children & Families, Xtreme Sports, Shorts, Features, Documentaries and this year we introduce a local filmmakers program. The 2-day event will also include post show discussions and a no-host reception with visiting filmmakers and special guests.
May 3rd - Silver Saturday at Silver Mountain Resort
This is your last chance to experience the snow! Bring your friends and family to the mountain to enjoy the last of this incredible spring season.
 Special rates will apply: Adult and College Student lift tickets are $29. Seniors and Youth lift tickets are $20. See our website for a complete list of rates. The snow report will be updated every Saturday through the rest of the season. There will be entertainment up-top with DJ, Bar and BBQ on the beach.
May 3rd - The Gun show

May 3rd - Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Golf Package at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course
Enjoy a Mexican Fiesta day the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course with traditional Mexican Tacos on hand for all at the practice range to kick-off your round of golf. Drink specials on Corona  Beer and Margaritas after your round.
May 7th - $100,000 Hole in One at Circling Raven Golf Club
The first golfer making an ACE on the 16th hole wins $100,000! Additional prizes available on par 3's as well.

May 9th - Art Walk
On the second Friday of each month from April through December, enjoy an evening of exceptional art, fine dining and friends in Downtown Coeur d'Alene at Art Walk.
The art galleries host opening receptions with the opportunity to meet the artisits, listen to live music and see newly arrived works of art - all within easy strolling distance. Participating Downtown businesses and restaurants are open extended hours and 2-hour parking is always free.
May 9th - 31st - 9th Annual Clay Invitational at The Art Spirit Gallery
The Art Spirit Gallery will open their 9th Annual Clay Invitational on May 9th and will last through to May 31st. There will be 13 artists and a Southwest Pottery Collection with a reception from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.in conjunction with the Downtown Art Walk.
The Art Spirit Gallery's normal business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and stay open Friday evenings until 9:00 p.m.
May 11th - Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day!
May 11th - Moms Day Discount at Circling Raven Golf Club
Celebrate Mother's Day at one of the top ten courses on the nation, Circling Raven Golf Club. Special rates for mom's are $35 with a regular paying customer at $75. These rates include green fees.

May 14th, 21st and 28th - Downtown Farmer's Market
The Downtown Farmer's Market is back! Enjoy fresh, local fruits, vegetables, baked goods  and crafts every Wednesday afternoon in Downtown Coeur d'Alene.

May 17th - ROW's Opening Day for Rafting
May 18th - Pancake Feed Fundraiser
Presented by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department Marine Division. The Pancake Feed Fundraiser will be held at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds and Event Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

May 24th - The Grand Opening of Wild Waters Waterpark
Come visit Wild Waters Waterpark one of Coeur d'Alene's premiere attractions! New this year is the Riverhouse Bar on the Lazy River. The 1400ft river features a 40 foot waterfall, Tarzan Swing Rope Ride and the Riverhouse Bar is on the river serving specialty drinks, beer and wine. There are 14 slides; the fastest anywhere and kiddie lagoon make's Wild Waters Waterpark the ultimate in family fun for the summer!
May 25th - Gourmet Golf...A Taste of Coeur d'Alene at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course
Join the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course for a day of golf and good eats! We love golf and delicious cuisine. Now we want you to experience both in one great package. May 25th - Coeur d'Alene Marathon at Riverstone
Thirty-first Annual Coeur d'Alene Marathon Offers a New Course Starting and Finishing at Riverstone.
North Idaho Centennial Trail welcomes Riverstone as the title sponsor and host of the event. 
The Coeur d'Alene Marathon/Half Marathon offers one of the most spectacular events in the country. At an elevation of 2300 feet above sea level, the resort community of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, resting on the shores of spectacular Lake Coeur d'Alene, welcomes visitors to a plethera of vacation and recreational activities. The welcoming community and natural beauty have drawn events such as the Ironman USA Traithlon Coeur d'Alene, held each year in June.

May 30th - Opening Day at Silver Mountain Rapids Indoor Waterpark at Silver Mountain
Come join Silver Mountain for Opening Day of their new football field size INDOOR waterpark, Silver Rapids! Bask in the comfortable 84 degree controlled climate while enjoying the beauty of natural surroundings through skylights and windows. There are plenty of ways to get wet, from the featured Flowrider surf wave to seven waterslides, a lazy river and much, much more.

Spring is Here and Art Walk is Back
The Wait is Over!
Coeur d'Alene's favorite monthly event is back! Art Walk is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Art walk launches on May 9th at 5:00 p.m. in beautiful Downtown Coeur d'Alene. Art Walk features some of the region's and nation's premiere artists.
On the second Friday of each month from April through December, enjoy an evening of exceptional art, fine dining, and friends in Downtown Coeur d'Alene.
The art galleries host open receptions with the opportunity to meet the artists, listen to live music and see newly arrived works of art - all within easy strolling distance.

The Downtown Coeur d'Alene Farmer's Market is back! Locals and visitors  alike come to Downtown Coeur d'Alene for fresh, local fruits, vegetables, baked goods and crafts every Wednesday afternoon from May 14th - September. The Downtown Farmer's Market begins at 4:00 pm. and ends at 7:00 p.m.
The Downtown Farmer's Market is located on 5th Street and Sherman Avenue in Coeur d'Alene.
